As one fifth of the world’s biggest girl band The Spice Girls, Geri Halliwell as sold over 51 million albums world wide with ‘Spice’ and the follow up ‘Spice World’ making the group the best-selling female band of all time.

Three solo studio albums and 4 Brit award nominations later Geri is back with her new track ‘Angels in Chains’. A touching tribute to musical legend and close friend George Michael. We catch up with Geri before her live performance at London’s G-A-Y club – her first gig in 12 years – to hear about her thoughts on the current girl bands on the scene, on what George would make of the track and the possibility of a Spice Girls reunion.

Hi Geri, lovely to meet you! And congrats on the new single. The single has a lot of meaning behind it, and your amazing relationship with George Michael; what do you think he would make of the single?

Every step of the way I’ve asked myself, would George approve? What would he think?

I worked on Angels in Chains with his music family – the amazing Chris Porter produced this single. he has worked with George from the Wham era through to Jesus To A Child. There’s also all the amazing backing singers who have recorded and toured with him for years. They are on this record with me and on stage with me tonight… but you know what? George is such an incredible musician and a perfectionist… so I’m sure I’d fall short anyway!
